Kitchen cookware and accessories

Stainless steel is made from iron and other metals, which is strong and resists against wear and tear. It is inexpensive, long lasting and is most popular in North America. The metals used in stainless steel or iron, may produce health effects such as iron, nickel and chromium.

Ceramic pottery, enamel or glass cookware is easily cleaned and can be heated to fairly high temperatures. Ceramic is glazed; similar glazes are applied to metals to make enamelware. These glazes, a form of glass, resist wear and corrosion.

For cooking and storing food, plastic is lightweight and nearly unbreakable. Many containers have been made for use in microwave ovens, where metal cookware is not suitable.

Stainless steel cookware should be washed in hot, soapy water or a warm ammonia and water solution, thoroughly rinsed and immediately dried to avoid water spots. Use mild, stainless steel cleaners or light scouring with a plastic or stainless steel scouring pad to remove most stains; don't use steel wool, chlorine bleach or alcohol

Cast iron cookware is usually pre-seasoned coated with unsalted fat and heated to prevent rusting, unless porcelain coated. It should be washed in warm, sudsy water and frequently treated by coating the cast iron interior surface with unsalted shortening, left until its next use, and then wiped out. To re-season, scour the pan completely, rinse and dry; then coat the inside with unsalted fat and leave in moderate oven for two hours. Remove and wipe off excess grease

To remove copper cookware discoloration, use commercial cleaner or a mixture of flour, salt, lemon juice and ammonia applied before regular washing. Wash chrome cookware with warm water and soap or detergent. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

Poker and slow playing when you should feign weakness when really holding strength

Poker is a game of information. Control what information your opponent is receiving, and you can maneuver him into making a mistake. There are two primary ways to control this information… By bluffing, or by slowplaying.

Bluffing is making a strong bet, when your hand is, in reality, weak. You are trying to get a better hand to fold. Slowplaying, on the other hand, is to hold a very strong hand, but play it weakly. This is done to entice a weaker hand to bet into you.

For instance, you decide to go to the local casino, and play a few hands of Texas Hold’em. Not many hands are coming your way, and then you look down to see pocket 7’s.

Your last to act, and one person has raised the pot in front of you. No one else has called. You decide to just call, and see what the flop brings.

Then, the flop comes down… It’s 8 of hearts, 7 of spades, 2 of clubs. You hit the jackpot! Middle set. Now, you want to figure out how you can make the most of it.

The only thing is, your opponent stares at the board, and then checks to you. You figure he missed the flop. If you bet now, he’ll probably fold, and you won’t win much at all with your monster hand. You decide to check it as well.

The turn card comes out, and it happens to be a King spades. Hopefully, your opponent likes this card. After looking a few moments at the board, he bets half the pot. This is working perfectly according to plan. You decide to call, and see what he does on the river.

Finally the river card. It’s a 2 of heart. No flush, no straight, and only a King high board. Suddenly, your opponent decides to push all his chips in the middle! You really couldn’t ask for much more. You call instantly, and he rolls over KQ. You take down the pot with your set of 7’s.

So, you won a monster pot, deserving of your monster hand. However, it might never have happened, except you were able to slowplay it.

But, there are some rules to the slowplay. Follow them closely, and you can use this technique to pull out profits in poker.

First Rule: Hand strength is a must! Without it, you are just giving free cards for them to take your money with.

Second Rule: Your opponent need to be able to make a good hand. If he’s holding overcards to the board, this may work. If he’s holding trash, it probably won’t.

Third rule: Any card that can come must not be able to hurt your hand. We want to make sure the gun he has is firing blanks, not real bullets.

Fourth Rule: If your opponent happens to call with anything, then bet anyway. He’s gonna call…not sense in playing slow to prevent a fold.

Fifth Rule: If the money you can win in the pot is already a large amount…then bet away. You’d rather take down a big pot now, than slowplay and lose a huge one later.

The journey of yoga through mind

Yoga is a transformative art, and deceptively simple. At least, although the advanced yoga postures are in fact difficult to the unpracticed, and look it, the changes that yoga can bring into one's life belie the apparent simplicity of stretching muscles.

After all, we stretch muscles at the gym during a warm up. So what is the basic difference between yoga and regular workouts, including pilates. Pilates, after all, took some of its inspiration from yoga. Or at least the aspect of yoga that is made of the physical exercises, the asanas.

Yoga integrates the breath and consciousness with physical stretches in a way that I haven't even felt in pilates, although pilates is great as a way of strengthening the internal muscles of the body as well, particularly the pelvic floor.

But in yoga, through the breath, and focusing on it within our body, we come to a greater understanding of both our body and ourselves. We begin a more conscious relationship with our individuality. We meet that unique expression of ourselves expressing physically in that moment. And we are able to begin a process of changing that which is blocking the vital flow of our energy.

That is why it doesn't matter what state we are in when we begin practising a yoga posture. We might be more or less stiff, or in pain, or distracted, than usual. It is a journey of discovery, not of trying to fit ourselves into an external idea, even if that idea is represented in that moment by the yoga posture we are trying to do. Desikachar writes that the body can "only gradually accept an asana". We should not strain ourselves, or judge ourselves, if we cannot fit into that posture. That posture is a possible outcome, yes, but what we do in our practice of yoga is to take the journey.

Desikachar makes another important point: "We should remain flexible so that we are still able to react to changes in our expectations and old ideas. The more distanced we are from the fruits of our labors, the better we are able to do this... Paying more attention to the spirit in which we act and looking less to the results our actions may bring us - this is the meaning of isvarapranidhana in kriya yoga"

The asanas are a way of preparing ourselves to more fully meet the challenges of life in a way that does not throw us off balance, and increases our capacity to adapt to those changes that are inherent in life. They allow us to be more sensitive and aware to what is really going on inside us, and in life itself. This growing self knowledge then provides us with a more complete picture in which our responses to whatever situations confront us more accurately reflects what is truly present. There is a deeper engagement that goes beyond the vagrancies of the mind, the self doubt, the domination of our preconceptions and expectations, or our need for something to be a certain way.

When we are distracted or preoccupied with doubts, worries, and fears, and even hope that is attached to an outcome (need), the vital energy of our whole being is leaking, diffused. Through yoga practice, we are able to clear the detritus, to redirect our diffused energy within, to sit within the body, our being, again. This is an energetic aspect of self-mastery. Integral to this is the knowledge of oneself as whole, and simultaneously a part of the wholeness that is within everything.

Why you should choose debt consolidation

:
If debt is currently an issue in your life, debt consolidation really can save you from the stress of bills, debt collectors, and the nagging thoughts of foreclosure or even bankruptcy. Debt consolidation can drastically change your life within weeks, months, or years depending on your current debt situation. Consolidating your debts will allow you to live with peace of mind that you are taking care of your financial obligations while continuing to live a happy life.

Debt consolidation is taking all of your bills and fitting them into one monthly payment. Fitting all your bills into one payment also means one interest rate, which will limit the amount you pay out every month, saving you a lot of money in the long run. Debt consolidation also makes paying off multiple debts easier because the monthly payments can be lowered when you take away insane interest rates. The average debtor pays more interest every month than they do on the actual principal balance of their debt! Eliminating the sky-high interest rates is a good start to getting your debts paid, without going completely broke.

Many people assume when they can’t pay the bills it’s time to just throw up their hands and consider drastic actions such as foreclosure, repossession and bankruptcy. While there are some extreme cases where bankruptcy would be the best option, foreclosure is almost always avoidable as is repossession. Banks, car dealerships, mortgage companies, and creditors don’t like to have to take back property or write off your debts, they would rather work with you on debt consolidation so that they can get back what they are owed and you can go on your way with your credit still in tact. Bankruptcy, repossession, and foreclosure are not easy outs when it comes to debts; in fact, they are choices that will continue to affect you for a long, long time. Consider debt consolidation before making any hasty decisions.

Debt consolidation on your own can be tricky, or downright impossible depending on your credit situation. Luckily, there are debt consolidation companies waiting to help people who are in over their head, just like you! Debt consolidation companies will take your credit report and any unreported debts that you can give them and work out a payment plan for you. These debt consolidation companies often contact each company and strike a deal to lower or get rid of the interest and even split the balance of the amount due. Obviously, lowering or getting rid of interest and part of each debt will limit what you spend each month, enabling you to actually pay the bill.

What’s the catch with this type of debt consolidation? Well, there really isn’t one. Yes, this is a business and the consolidator does make money because while he takes away the interest that each company is charging, he will charge you interest or a percentage of what you owe. Doesn’t seem fair? It is! It works out better for you, because even though you are still paying interest it’s just one interest payment for all the debts you currently hold. So, instead of paying twenty seven percent to ten companies you’ll pay twenty percent to one company. So, you go from having multiple payments and interest rates to just one payment for all the bills and one interest rate. It works! If you follow the plan, and make your monthly payments debt consolidation will soon have your credit report looking much better than it does right now.

You may think that you have so much debt you cannot possibly afford to repay even on a debt consolidation plan. You’d be surprised what these companies can get done on your behalf. And, if your debt is that outstanding you can work through the process slowly, a few debts at a time. There is nothing wrong with the process taking a while, as long as you keep up with the process and intend to actually pay off your debts. Getting your credit where it should be does take time, but it’s worth it. Your credit is your buying power, and each payment you make gets you closer to having more of it.

Worried that the companies you are dealing with won’t work with a debt consolidation company? You’d be surprised. Yes, the companies will loose a little bit of money compared to if you showed up with cash to repay the debt tomorrow, but in the long run it’s better for them to take a debt consolidation deal than not. Most companies figure they’d rather get a portion of your debt back and settle the deal than not get anything back at all. Getting seventy five percent of your debt back is more reasonable to them than to keep paying debt collectors to contact you and try to get the money back. All in all, any money is worth striking a deal over, and that is why a debt consolidation company can really get you where you need to be. They are professionals and they know how to get companies to agree to their terms.

Debt consolidation companies will usually work with you to get your debts paid off within a reasonable monthly payment. Each month you’ll make just one payment, reducing the time and stress of paying the bill, and each month you’ll be a step closer to financial freedom. Paying off your debts, through debt consolidation or otherwise will take a weight off your back that you may not even realize is there. No one wants to have unpaid debts, but sometimes life gets in the way and it happens. It happens to the best of us. But, don’t be too proud to consolidate those debts and get back on the right track. Open up your local phone book, or get online and find a debt consolidation service in your area. Contact a debt consolidator not with shame, but with pride, because you are stepping up to do the right thing.

Evaluating laminate floors

Since the introduction of laminate flooring into the US in 1982, the sector has experienced growth of up to 20% per annum at the expense of other floor types, making laminate the fastest growing floor type in the country. The appeal lies not only in its aesthetic value of its representation of real hardwood, but also due to its incredible durability and ease of maintenance.

The following factors will help you evaluate different brands and styles of laminate flooring in order to determine which laminate floor best suites your application.

Laminate floors are constructed using two different methods of manufacture: Direct Pressure Laminate (DPL) and High Pressure Laminate (HPL). Direct pressure laminate is made up of three layers, while a High Pressure Laminate is made up of a minimum of five layers. Is one better than the other? Yes. HPL is a far superior product. The addition of Phenolic Treated Kraft Sheets make the HPL a far stronger, more dent resistant and stable product. The catch is that they come with a higher price tag. Do you need HPL in your home? No. Most laminate floors sold in the US are (DPL) and are built for today’s active households. However if you are looking for a floor that will withstand the vigour of small children and large pets and still look good in 15 years time, then High Pressure Laminate is a good alternative.

Laminate cores range in thickness from 6mm to 12mm, with a thicker core usually denoting a more stable product. The only exception to this rule is High Pressure Laminate (HPL), which although has a much thinner core compared to (DPL), is stronger and more durable. Composition of core material is also an important factor. A good laminate floor is constructed using High density Fiberboard (HDF) as the core material, which has been treated with water repellent chemicals, offering stability and a high level of water resistance.

Joint integrity can be an important factor, especially when placing heavy items on your laminate floors. Laminate floors are engineered to withstand normal day to day wear and tear and are designed to withstand the weight of normal household furniture. If you wish to place an extra heavy item of furniture on you floors, such as a very large fish tank, you might want to consider purchasing a floor that has an aluminum locking system. Laminate floor joints should also be treated with water repellent chemicals, such as paraffin wax, which is impregnated into the tongue and groove of the floor boards.

A good laminate warranty should cover the following aspects: Fading, Denting, Wear and Tear, Staining and should have some kind of water warranty, although keep in mind that no laminate warranty covers flooding. Always be sure to scrutinize the duration of the different aspects of a laminate warranty, as a 25 year warranty might refer to manufacturers defects only, while the wear and tear aspect of the warranty only covers a 15 year period.

North American Laminate Flooring Association (NALFA): NALFA is the organization that sets the standards for laminate flooring in the USA. NALFA is a non profit organization, and its members are unpaid volunteers. Laminates submitted o NALFA undergo a range of stringent tests. If the laminate floor meets or exceeds NALFA standards, it will earn the right to display the NALFA seal of approval. Note that submission of laminate flooring to NALFA is voluntary. The following laminates carry the NALFA seal of approval: Pergo, Mannington, Wilsonart. A more complete list can be found at the NALFA website.

Tips for buying collectibles on ebay

Buying collectibles is one of the most enjoyable things to do on eBay, simply because you can find so many things that you just can’t get anywhere else. Here are a few tips to help you on your way.

Find your Category.

You’ll probably find that all the items you’re after are listed in a single category. Add this category to your browser’s Favorites, and keep coming back.

Look for Mistakes.

If you collect something, the chances are you know a lot about it. This can be your opportunity to make a mint from a seller’s mistake. They might not realise that they have a rare version of an item, or they might have left off the key information that makes it valuable. If you’re willing to email the seller and ask them a few questions about the item to confirm that it is what you think it is, then you should be able to buy items like these. You can then resell them at a big profit, if that’s what you want to do.

Don’t Always Believe Descriptions.

If you find something you haven’t heard of, and the description calls it ‘rare’, don’t assume that it actually is. Far too many sellers just put ‘rare’ into all of their descriptions – the chances are that the item is common and has just been described wrongly. Don’t bid unless you know what you’re buying.

Stalk Other Users.

When you collect something, you’ll probably notice that there are four or five sellers who seem to come up with consistently good items – and the same buyers buying them. Add their user pages to your Favorites, and check back often to see what they’ve got – or what they’re bidding on – that you might be interested in.

Don’t Get Too Attached to an Auction.

There are millions of items being listed every day on eBay – whatever you want, it’ll come around again, and if you don’t get it there are plenty more things to buy. This is similar to the golden rule of negotiating: always be prepared to walk away. If you can’t walk away, then expect to pay over the odds. There are few things so rare that another seller won’t have one to sell. Go and bid in a lower-priced auction, instead of getting into a bidding war in one that is already expensive.

Beware of the Postage.

If you collect lots of small things with a relatively low value, you might end up paying as much for postage as you do for each item. You should take these costs into consideration when you make your bid. Another good strategy is to always buy a few things at once from the same buyer, as they will almost always offer you a discount on the postage.

When you’re bidding, you might notice that some auctions go more slowly than others, going days at a time without any new bids. The next email tells you how to take advantage of these ‘slow’ auctions.

Web development the mother of ecommerce

With the growth in web development there have been many businesses and organizations who have hired an in-house webmaster to manage the growth and direction of their business website. Some of these developers are making a significant salary.

Most successful online firms have concluded this is the new ‘business as usual’. The site looks good and is functioning well. The webmaster is on call to work through any difficulties the may arise with the site.

The webmaster may be in charge of improving Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and they may be working with a freelance or in-house writer to accomplish the goals of the company.

The difficulty many online businesses encounter is they typically have limited start-up capital and the hiring of a full-time in-house webmaster may result in the demise of the company from a financial perspective.

The primary impetus of any online business is to keep costs low and hope for a significant volume of customer orders. If the product is highly unique it may be possible to sell fewer items at a higher profit margin. This is an important concept in online marketing simply because it has a determinant factor in the way you develop and optimize your site.

If you are one of the many netrepreneurs that would like to learn to crawl before you walk or run then you might want to consider an integrated solution that places you in the drivers seat in terms on site development.

It is possible to develop a website that includes all the things you will need for ecommerce without the need for a webmaster. This strategy is possible even if you have no previous experience in web development.

By taking a highly detailed route through web development on your own through an ecommerce solution you can literally have a business website up and running the same day.

This solution also provides a sense of empowerment because the step-by-step process allows you to have full control over site functionality. You can customize the look and feel of the site and have satisfaction in knowing you are in control of the process.

Web development doesn’t have to be a mystery that only a select few can unravel. The process of developing a business website has become streamlined. The result is proving to be a boon to netrepreneurs with big ideas and limited income. If necessity is the mother of invention than website development tools is the mother of ecommerce success.
